Hello, welcome to my About Me page.
Here I want to talk a little about my history on Ebay and to tell you a
bit about my new Web Site I am building, out of the
passion I have for the National Geographic maps I specialize on in
my store.
My Ebay business started in August 2002, buy selling old bottles that I
collected around the area. My passion for going to the local auctions for these
old bottles soon produced a new very diverse list of wares to sell at auction. I
eventually branched into selling vacuum tubes. I soon specialized in them, which
lasted for a long time since they sold well on Ebay. Over time I have been able
to build up a feedback rating I am fairly proud of.
After a long run, I decided these vacuum tubes took too much of my time. I
needed something to sell that took less of it. I eventually decided on National
Geographic maps for a few good reasons:
- I know a bit about these maps since my dad collected National Geographic
maps for as long as I can remember, and I inherited his collection after he
died.
- Therefore I already had a good collection of maps and found I could
purchase large lots of maps at reasonable prices.
- My belief from my own experience in the quality and quantity of maps put
out by National Geographic, that there must be other people out there
interested in these maps.
- The ease of storing, sorting, cataloging, packing and shipping made them a
natural for me.
- And last but not least my passion for these maps that became stronger the
more I dealt with them.
Over time I have been able to build up a data base of about 600 different
National Geographic maps, of which my personal collection amounts to around
400 maps now ( March 2007). Info on maps I did not have myself came from several
sources online. To build my personal collection, I have amassed several thousand
maps now with many duplicates. These are what I sell back on Ebay to make up
money I spent to build my collection, plus make a little profit.
NOW FOR MY NEW WEB SITE:www.Geographic-Maps-Search.com
One thing I picked up on in my research into National Geographic maps is that
there is no one source for all the maps I have been able to catalog so
far. And National Geographic have put out a lot of maps and beautiful illustrations in their 100 plus years of making them. I have cataloged 600 maps and illustrations so far and I know there are more I have not found info on yet.
Well I decided to make up a Web Site to help people to easily
find a particular National Geographic map or illustration they want. This is done I hope rather well on my Web Site: www.Geographic-Maps-Search.com.
You will eventually find listings of all the National Geographic maps and illustrations put out under several categories. Most of the maps and illustrations have links that bring up pictures from my personal collection.
I will soon have a Comments Box up so that you will be able to leave
comments or suggestions and a RSS/Blog you can subcribe to for web site updates. My goal is to make this site as helpful and accurate as
possible and will take all your comments and suggestions seriously.
