WELCOME TO JESSIES PLACE
Hello and welcome to Condy Books et cetera. Why the eBay ID of 'jessies place'? We were introduced into the wonderful world of antiques because of a need to furnish our newly acquired century home with period treasures. Built in 1843 by farmer and musician Jessie (Jesse) Doan (1814-1868), we felt we owed him a grateful acknowledgment for the privilege of sharing this space. Jessie would spend the season working the fields of his 200 acre farm. It is said that he travelled to Boston in the off season to listen to the latest musical trends. Upon return, he spent the winter writing music for the Sharon Silver Band, a well renowned group of area musicians known for using silver instruments and the first civilian band in Canada. His father John Doan, a cabinetmaker was instrumental in the building of the SHARON TEMPLE. The temple, a recognized Canadian Historical Site was built for the spin-off Quaker group known as the Children of Peace. As a sign of respect, and to pacify his ever continued presense, we refer to this place as 'jessies'. Jessie, his wife Wait Ann (Brooks) and a variety of their off-spring can be visited at the local pioneer cemetary here in Sharon, Ontario Canada.
