My Inspiration

I've always loved reading. I clearly remember in grade one when the "light went on" and I could read on my own. I was so excited! It was like a whole new world opened up to me. I remember great rainy days with a stack of library books and just reading all day. 

Skip ahead many years and it turns out I met and married a book lover too. So when our son was born, we read to him from the first day. His first book was Goodnight Moon. My store name actually came from reading to him and having to read it "again" when it was done. He then started reading on his own before he was three. We thought maybe it was just memorizing so we gave him a book he'd never seen before and he read it with no trouble. He's really into nonfiction right now, especially how things work and how they are made. He now has about 500 books in his collection.

He was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a variant of Autism) and that this was part of the reason for the early reading. Many AS kids have a fascination with letters and numbers, which fits as two of his favourite things are reading and math. :)

I really started here at Ebay buying books for my son. We'd keep the ones we liked and the rest I would resell. As he'd grow out of books or just not like them anymore we'd resell them. It was funny, at four he'd come over with some books and say "Sell these on Ebay Mommy, I don't like them anymore." It's really grown from there over the years. Selling more and more on Ebay. I also expanded my online stores here at Ebay, ABE and Alibris.

In the past few years, I've also helped my son's school library by not only selling them large quantity of books at super low prices but also donating hundreds and hundreds of books. I also donated my time before I had to go back to work full-time. I also try to donate as many books as I can to other elementary schools in our neighbourhood.

My son also likes donating the books he's outgrown to his daycare because he can still read them once in awhile.
